An independent inquiry with “wide-ranging powers” is set to investigate the New South Wales greyhound racing industry following recent concerns about animal welfare within the sector. The inquiry will be led by the Greyhound Welfare Integrity Commission (GWIC) and headed by acting commissioner Lea Drake.

A comprehensive investigation into complaints:

Gaming and Racing Minister David Harris announced that the inquiry would address multiple complaints surrounding Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW), encompassing track safety, animal welfare, and operational practices. Ms. Drake is tasked with reporting her findings to Minister Harris by December 13.

As the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reports, this inquiry comes on the heels of Rob Macaulay’s resignation as GRNSW CEO, which followed a critical “handover report” by Alex Brittan, the state’s former Greyhound Racing chief veterinary officer.

Activision Blizzard has confirmed that a “small number” of employees on its Hearthstone team have been laid off.

Word of the layoffs surfaced late yesterday in LinkedIn posts by former Blizzard employees. “After 18 and a half years at Blizzard Entertainment, I’ve been laid off without notice as of today,” tools engineer Hunter C. wrote. “The Hearthstone Team is apparently being restructured and my Tools Engineer role is no longer needed.”

In a separate comment, Hunter C. added, “I know I’m not the only one being hit.”

Senior producer Joe Belousek was one of the other employees caught up in the layoffs. “Today, after two years, I was unexpectedly laid off from the Hearthstone team,” Belousek said in his own post. “It wasn’t a long time, but I made the most of it and was making it mine.

“Goodbye to the big campus orc, hopefully, we’ll both see better days soon. GLHF Hearthstone team.”

There’s been a lot of confusion in Helldivers 2 recently. With some players misunderstanding a recent Major Order and a bit of distracted managed democracy, some are calling for a change to how supply lines are laid out.

Joel (the Game Master) decided to make players choose between defending the planet Draupnir and liberating Ubanea. The sudden change and rapid confusion that spread across the ranks meant that many ended up choosing to fight for Ubanea too late and, therefore, lost access to the planet, a crucial stepping stone to the final goal of the Major Order, Tibit. 

The supply lines that would have aided Divers in the completion of the Major Order to restore Tibit were pretty unclear, so much so that one soldier, Thekrzysiek, decided to create a mockup of what a clearer supply line map could look like.
